Continuous Curiosity of a Restless Mind

🇮🇹 Versione italiana: Curiosità continua di una mente inquieta

After almost twenty years spent solving problems for hours every day, the mind changes its rhythm and no longer accepts switching off just because the working day is over.

I often wonder how other people manage to completely unplug, stop thinking about anything they did during the day, and relax by sinking into a couch or, at most, dedicating themselves to a single hobby.

For me, it is not about choosing only one path or being inconsistent. It is a matter of continuous curiosity: when I stop focusing on Kubernetes architectures and Continuous Delivery workflows, my need to understand and learn does not disappear, it simply shifts to something new.

What is absolute rest for many people, for me is the pleasure of spending a weekend immersed in meticulously reconstructed historical clothing together with dozens of enthusiasts, and in activities that are now completely obsolete in the modern world (yet still so fascinating). Or sharing knowledge about technology, artificial intelligence, personal finance, SaaS startup ideas, and historical reenactment, in the real world or on the Internet, makes little difference.

I do not think this is a lack of focus (although a doctor might have a different opinion), but rather a desire to live as many experiences as possible and connect worlds that only seem distant on the surface. In the end, all the knowledge we accumulate intertwines and enriches itself, effectively making each person unique.

Perhaps this tireless mental activity is exactly what allows us to stay sharp and lively over time, because every new interest is not an added burden, but a new piece that fits better and better with those already in place. Or maybe I am almost 40 and a midlife crisis is just around the corner, who knows.
